Sada Cruzeiro comes back to Brazil this Friday – FIVB

In their last match of the 2018 Club World Championship, Sada Cruzeiro beat Iran’s Khatam Ardakan 3-0, and says goodbye to the international competition with a victory. In the game held at the Podpromie Hall in Rzeszów on Thursday night, the 29th, the blue team played better and scored 25/16, 27/25 and 25/16.

Along with Sada Cruzeiro, the champion in the 2015 and 2016 editions, the 2017 champion Zenit Kazan is also out of the final four. And so is the Polish team, Srka Belchatow, two-time runner-up of the tournament, and the Iranian Khatam Ardakan.

“This is one of the toughest championships in the last years and we were hoping to make it to the finals. We are aware that we worked hard, we did our best in every game and we are leaving here stronger for the rest of the season, aware of what we must do”, said coach Marcelo Mendez.

The World Championship semi-finals will be played on Saturday between the Italian Lube Civitanova and the Polish Asseco Resovia at 2:30 pm and between Russian Fakieł Nowy Urengoj and Italian Trentino Volley at 5:30pm. The big decision comes on Sunday at 5:30 pm in the city of Czestochowa, which will host the entire final phase.

The Brazilian team begins their trip back to Belo Horizonte this Friday morning and is expected to be home on Saturday afternoon.
